Dr. Kyoung-Jin Kang is the Director of Plastic and Aesthetic Surgery Department of Wallace Memorial Baptist Hospital, Busan, Korea. He is the founder of Korean College of Cosmetic Surgery (www.koreancosmeticsurgery.com). Graduated from Chonbuk National University in 1990, he obtained a PhD in human anatomy. He also further specialized in anatomy of cosmetic surgery and worked as a professor of Catholic University of Daegu, Korea. Since 2004, he has been organizing many cadaver workshops, hand-on courses and international conferences for Asian cosmetic surgery. He is passionately active in the educational field of cosmetic surgery. He is a special teaching member of Chinese Society of Plastic Surgery of Chinese Medical Association. He is also the Advisory Editorial Board of Journal of Cosmetic Surgery and Medicine, and a visiting professor of Yeungnam University, Korea.  

 

One of his accomplishments is the invention of SAFI (Sequential Autologous Fat Injection) technique in facial fat transfer and he has published a book describing his technique. Currently, PDO thread lifting is one of the most popular non-invasive cosmetic procedures such as botox and fillers. However, most of the PDO thread procedures are focused mainly on facial rejuvenation. Procedure for the forehead is not so popular and also not well established. Besides, thread lifting looks like an easy procedure, but practically the postoperative results with high satisfaction are very difficult to be achieved. Hence, Dr. kang has developed ASTi (Anti-aging Sequential Thread Insertion) dual plan approach technique which considers the action mechanism of various types of threads, functional anatomy and aging of the forehead, soft tissue foundation, and gravity. He also developed ASTi PDO kits for the lifting of forehead, mid-face, lower face and neck, which was designed to be easily used for beginner doctors.
